Setting the Standard: Teaching, Training, and Giving Back

As a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, I am honoured to be one of the few selected as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England — a role entrusted only to surgeons with proven clinical excellence, educational insight, and professional integrity. This appointment reflects not only my position as a key opinion leader in venous surgery, but also a broader commitment to shaping the standards of care that future consultants in the UK will be expected to uphold.

In this capacity, I assess candidates at key milestones in their surgical careers, ensuring that competence is matched by judgement, and technical skill by ethical clarity. Few in private practice undertake this responsibility — and for me, it is more than professional distinction.
Having been trained within the NHS, I remain committed to giving back through both my College work and my private practice, which is delivered within an NHS hospital setting. This allows me to reinvest in the system that shaped me, support charitable initiatives, and ensure that excellence in vein care remains accessible and accountable.
